Seawater Coffee Breath
I only let myself cry in the morning now
salty seawater tracks on sleep creased face
coffee breath exhalations, gasps into the void
the timing is essential you see, for
I cannot allow them to witness the fullness of my despair
I do not wish for them to wholly comprehend
see my fears laid bare, raw, wet
exposed nerve, hot electric pulsings
anxieties, curling tentacles madly squirming
seeking, grasping, choking
throbbing, ragged twisting tendrils
eating, boring into my very core
seeking my peace without respite
the monsters that crawl under this anxious skin
capering madly, bared gleaming white incisors
Beasts
trapped within this feverish vibrating skull
they cannot have these sacred innocent ones
I refuse to feed them mine
will not offer them up as sacrifice
I will drown upon these daytime seas first
and save them from the teeth

Thank you for reading! Please remember to be good to yourselves and also to each other! The world is cold and hard right now my friends, but we must remain warm and soft within our hearts. The future of the very world depends upon it, in fact. I love you all, and I hope you are all finding ways right now to create your own peace and to find your own release valves to let out that very much deserved angst that we're all feeling so palpably right now. There is always hope and light to be found even in this troubled world, if you just look for it. I love the opening and closing sentences. Morning fear fades as the fighter wakes within, determined to protect loved ones from the pain we suffer.
Riveting as always.
