They moved fast and broke things
Hustling hustlers plying dirty deeds
Monetized and radicalized convenient bigotries
Brother and sister, social media feeds
Now march to the beat of their fevered screeds
They moved fast and broke things
Political discourse obscured by warders
Commodified poison they preach of the borders
Huddled masses yearning to breathe free no more
Refuse teeming along plastic draped shore
Boys who are proud await their dark chore
They moved fast and broke things
Built on a cracked foundation of lies
Brick and mortar, flesh and blood intertwined
Conquest, empire and greed fraternize
Land of the free, sprung from chains that bind
They moved fast and broke things
Backrooms and ballrooms, communities gated
Power, privelege and influence traded
Charlatans capering, engorged and elated
Endless fuel for the fires that will never be sated
They moved fast and broke things

Please be kind and generous to others out there right now. The world is in a tough state everywhere you look, and a little kindness can go a long way. Hug your babies tight and tell them you love them every day, even if they are embarrassed teenagers like mine. 😄 Find and spread joy wherever you can, and never forget that I hold all of you in a special place in my heart.
