Fucking love this. Monopoly is truly evil. There's always one who basically becomes a slumlord. I did like the silver dog, though.

Shame what becomes of him in the end, really. 😄

Great post, and I had never thought about how cutthroat and evil Monopoly is. I've never liked the game, but thought that it was because it takes so fucking long to play just one fucking game. Uno can be cutthroat, but somehow less evil. Someone slaps the "Draw 4" card on you, and yes, it's annoying, and get mad for a few seconds, then laugh with the others, hoping to get revenge later.

Yes exactly. 😄

I learned years ago with my extended family that the only way for me to survive Monopoly with my sanity and temper intact is to be the non-player banker. I handled all the unsold property, money and was the arbiter of the rules. They all cheat including the kids so I always took the dice, cash and property with me for bathroom breaks. Also, alcohol helps.

See my point? Lol. It's not a good character enhancing game for anyone. 😄

You get no argument from me. I hate it but it was always a family thing.

Yeah, kinda same thing in my family as well. 😄

When we were kids a convenient "earthquake" (somebody gave the edge of the board enough of a shake to send all the pieces flying) usually struck the minute one player started to accumulate hotels. That bit was fun, mainly because it usually descended into an all out brawl.

😂😂😂 if only it were that easy in real life, right?

I think, just like our childhood games, if we want things to change we have to be the earthquake.

Nice post bPNWc… always hated the game my brother was the evil cutthroat… should’ve seen his attitude for what it was… he went on thinking he was the right hand of god… worked in the VA personnel dept… high up, and he’d be gone cuz of being 70, not for agreeing with 45 🤦🏼 good job with the post… 👏👏✊🏼 wish you had felt up to it on Wednesday, just saying, I would’ve pushed if I could !

Sweatless… I totally understand the thought of conservation of healthy resources, my best friend and his sister both had CF… he and I would go to games, but he’d be huffin by the time we got to the car, at least at candlestick park… I understand. Next time if you feel like it, I’ll get ya, whatever it takes even if we have to use a chair for the more comfortability of movement… keep it in mind ! Be safe and take care…

💙 Lady you may have one of the toughest jobs in this landscape right now… raising two young men in the face of a third of the country acting like white males are the only ones to value, the only ones with no rules… makes me 🤢… I appreciate what you do as my mom was divorced in ‘62 just after she hit a job and told my dad she didn’t want to be globetrotting as a military wife with two young kids… she was a single mom during the summer of love with us… didn’t let us go to altamont when the stones played there though… take care, virtual hugs for you 🫂

When I was living in Austin Texas I was staying with a guy friend if mine who owned a property in the Zilker Park area right across from Barton Springs, and the Rolling Stones played a concert on the riverbank of Barton Springs while I was there. I got to sit out in the Texas sun inside his privacy gated backyard, skinny-dipping in a giant claw foot tub full of warm water and Dr Bronner’s peppermint soap. From that glorious perch, I got to listen to them play an entire concert from right there in the backyard. It was almost like an obscured view private showing. Good times, man…

I wish I had been feeling up to it too, Rick. I decided that it would be prudent this time to allow myself to recover a little more before expending the kind of energy that would most assuredly take out of me. When you live with chronic illness like I do, you eventually learn to know your own limits. After you've been bit in the ass enough times by ignoring those limits, that is. 😜 I'm glad you can relate to the piece. I think we have all known that cutthroat board game player a time or two in our lives, and it is never fun to play anytime with them is it? 😄

There was a great 99% Invisible episode on the creation on Monopoly and how badly Parker Bros screwed her over. Capitalism!!

We never played much monopoly. It was chess, backgammon, uno, Yahtzee and CANDY LAND.

At the lake as adults, we play dice for money. It is extremely vicious though nobody cheats, and I once won enough money to purchase my kayak and all the bits and shits.

I love me some dice! 💓
