No it was not an easy road. I am always very aware that I am lucky to have made it out in one piece. I highly doubt that Monica is still alive if I'm honest. I've thought about her so many times over the years because she was just such a desperate example of how far a human can be broken. For her sake, I honestly hope she found a way out of that desperate condition, but I know the odds are very much against it.
She shot Jack Daniels? I was a drunk for a lot of years but I never heard of anyone injecting their booze. Being that my drug of choice was legal and socially acceptable, I felt myself above those who used street drugs. Mind you, I nearly died of alcohol poisoning twice in 2012 before I got off the sauce.
Yes! She literally shot it into her veins just to have something to shoot. And yeah, those “legal” addictions can kill you just as fast or faster than the illegal ones sometimes. I smoked cigarettes for at least 30 years before I was able to finally quit.
Lol. I get it. I really do. If I hadn't have ended up in the hospital after pneumonia for nearly three months I probably would still be smoking them. They had a tight hold on me.
I'm old af. If we wanted to smoke something, we had matches, not a Bic lighter. A matchbox was a handy container for shit, and the striker was useful for sharpening needles.
This reads like a Townes or Bukowski story. There but for the grade of god went I. Glad you’re better.
You and me both, my friend. 😊
Holy shit! I have to wonder if Monica even still walks this earth. Glad you are here among us. No easy road to have traveled.

Ohhhh my love affair with Marlboro still hasn’t ended.

Such a tragic tale told so well. I recall visiting my son who had moved from our rural home to the city
Thank you for reading, Carolyn. 😊❤️

Or so I've heard.
