I remember fields from my childhood. Orange and pomegranate orchards too. Now all condos and townhomes. Sigh

I haven't been out to Lookingglass Valley in a long time now so as far as I know, they could have developed my old stomping ground too. That would be a real shame.

Cat loved it. Writing transported Cat back in time to the past. Cat wonders where to find places like the Field today.

There must still be a few places like that left in the world somewhere. Places that my children's children might someday find. ❤️

Wonderful description - I could smell the rain and the clay! My durable little child body also loved climbing trees. There was one particular tree that had a branch wide enough to lay down on without fear of falling. I would take a book and read for hours on end, both sun warm and shaded from the worst of the Florida summer heat. That was the last place I lived where joy was by far my most common emotion.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful memory.

We had woods, and beyond that, a field, but I didn't play in the field as much as I did in the woods. The woods were fun - trails for walking and bike riding, or we could build forts. Now there is a mall where the field was. Actually, the mall is 50 years old and dying, but when it was built, I was excited, because I was 14 and no longer cared to play in the woods or the field. The woods are all gone now, more houses built, hotels, stores and restaurants have replaced them all.

Having woods would have been super cool too! I always wished we were by some kind of creek or lake too. I guess when you're a kid, you make your magic wherever you are. 😊
