Stand together, strike Together!

An entreaty to you, my fellow Americans 🇺🇸

I wonder sometimes if maybe many people actually lack the capacity to forecast the future with radical honesty because it is simply too much horror to bear to fully contemplate where these things could lead, but I think it's important at this point that we go there, no matter how horrifying that potential reality might be to acknowledge. We do ourselves a great disservice by hiding our heads in the sand and waiting idly for help to ride over the horizon. I don't think it's registering on many people's radar that this, what's going on right now, as horrible and unconstitutional and heinous it is, this is the OPENING salvo. It can, and it will get worse unless we can find a way to shut it down.

Do you think for one second that the people who are fully on board with the other genocides in this world are going to care when their leader decides to wage siege warfare against blue liberal enclaves? The same people who can be convinced of the necessity of bombing schools and hospitals under the pretense that there are terrorists living under them will not bat an eyelash when the regime drums up some whackadoo justification for using extreme tactics upon their fellow citizens. They will, perhaps, claim that there is a large underground network of antifa insurgents embedded in your neighborhood, thereby justifying dropping a few bombs right on your city street. “Oh, but the United States would never bomb their own citizens! Right?” Better brush up on your real United States history, because they can, they have and they will¹. “Oh, but there are friends and relatives and members of the other party in that city as well, and they would never allow their own to be injured, right?” My friends, how many of their own did they willingly murder with covid²? With no remorse and no afterthought. How many are held so tightly in the grip of Trump madness that they would sacrifice their own children on the altar of the orange one? More than a few is my educated guess.

We are dealing with several coexisting virulent strains of extremist thought all at one time in this country. And they are working in concert. Uneasy allies, they are nonetheless, allies of convenience when it comes to the overthrow of secular democracy. It is an absolute onslaught against the senses of anyone who values decency and justice. Many of the people enacting these systemic policy changes have dark agendas that the public is only just now really becoming aware of. An alliance of the tech bro PayPal Mafia gang with notoriously scurrilous members such as Peter Thiel, Elon Musk and Curtis Yarvin who want technocratic feudalism or rule by “high value males” (I shit you not), transnational criminal cartels and mafia organizations, far right Catholic organizations like opus dei³ and the heritage foundation, the Dominionist Christians⁴ with their batshit crazy seven mountains theology that's just aching to bring about the end times prophecy where everyone but them will suffer God's wrath and be cast into a lake of fire to burn for all eternity while they, good Christians that they are, will smugly drift upwards to heaven wearing their supercilious little Mike Johnson smirks on their self satisfied little faces.

The same people who are salivating over shipping all the brown “criminals” to torture sites to be disappeared forever are exactly the same cruel fucks who thought sheriff Joe Arpaio was a fucking genius with his pink jail linens and uniforms and his desert of death tent cities where he held human beings in conditions that defy the fucking Geneva convention. The same people who YEE-HAW abut the planned “alligator Alcatraz” concentration camp they're building in Florida aren't gonna give one single fuck what the regime’s foot soldiers and shock troops do to you, your family, your children, your pets. The press will actively abet the regime and tell them exactly why you deserved to be savaged by masked unidentified terrorists, complete with narration and photos (film at 11). They will either cherry pick or straight up create video footage to prove how rabid the population of whatever city is that they desire to target and they will run those videos on a loop until the average dumb politically unengaged American accepts it as gospel truth or decides that it doesn't matter anymore whether it is truth or not because in an authoritarian state like I'm describing, truth is exactly what the ruling party says it is and nothing more, nothing less. National security, they'll call it, when they come for you in your sanctuary cities. And the people who cheer for those other terrible things will bleat like excitable goats with their hateful mouths and they will clap like trained fucking seals lining up for a taste of fish. I know they will. I am related to many of them.

And you wanna know the worst fucking part about it? It'll be condoned by many on “our” side. Certainly, there will be some firebrand righteously angry and effective speeches given by many angry and rhetorically gifted, but ultimately lukewarm, politicians. Hearts will be stirred. Hope will burgeon in the breast of the still optimistic ones. But brutal reality? Against the full force of the United States military fronted by the leaders of a transnational criminal cartel and actively abetted by a compliant press apparatus, if it gets to that point, I don't favor our odds of a timely victory. Maybe we can descend into open insurgent warfare and turn the tide eventually, but that doesn't happen overnight. You could be looking at decades under this thumb. But there will still be some from our side of the aisle will find a way to justify crimes against us as well. They will say we weren't peaceful enough. We were too strident. Too loud. Too queer. We weren't palatable enough. That we scared the normals with our radical trans support and our socialisms. Many of the same spineless creatures who are imbued with corporate dogma and who stealthily support cruelty under the guise of such things as anti homeless initiatives in the interests of “business” and cutting to the right on “culture war issues” will be just fine with the radical edge being silenced. The go along to get alongs will simply adjust their routines and, well, go the fuck along. Whatever keeps that target off their forehead.

I do not say these things to discourage you. But I do say these things to alarm you. And I'm sorry, but I'm not sorry for that, my brothers and sisters. The time for timidity is quickly coming to an end. The time to express alarm is nigh. It's really getting to the put up or shut up point, and I don't know about you, but I am absolutely fucking terrible at shutting up. My point is, it's time for something radical my friends. Not violent, but transformative. It is time for coordinated general strikes! It's time to hit them where it hurts them the most. Their greed is their weakness. It's the only tether you can use to bring them to heel again. The time we have is growing less certain every passing day. I feel it. I know I'm not alone. That thickness in the very air we breathe that has nothing to do with the heat but everything to do with the temperature of the nation. That bitter trail of disappointing setbacks we have navigated blindly in this past decade, the rollbacks of precious rights and protections that we had taken so much for granted for so long, a hundred “once in a lifetime crises” lined up in a row. It has all of us jumping at shadows and waiting for the other shoe to drop. We are held hostage by a madman and his sycophants and we are all along for the ride whether we bought the ticket or not. Every slight whiff of hope that comes along, we latch onto it eagerly. Oh, this court case will save us, oh this ruling will certainly go our way. Sometimes it does, we momentarily rejoice at the glimmer of justice shining on the horizon, only for a different court to step in, sometimes within mere hours, negating that winning decision, swiftly followed by the dismal disappointment of ah well, I guess not. Again.

I'm not giving up hope my friends. I'm just saying that hope without action can sometimes be a rather hollow affair. Coordinated general strikes will be hard. It will test the fabric of our entire nation. Many people claim it cannot be done, but the same has been said in the past of many unimaginably difficult undertakings that were, in the end, achieved against all the measurable odds. Why should we hesitate to grab what is veritably the only tool left in the whole toolbox we can use to exert any kind of leverage? Think about it my friends. In ten years, do you want to tell your children or grandchildren, “Well, we could've tried to do something, anything, but it was hard and so in the end we chose to do nothing”? That's not something I can personally live with my friends.

I hope you will at least consider what I have to say here because more than anything, I am afraid of where this ascendent darkness may take us my friends. I am afraid for myself, my children, for everyone decent and good and kind who lives in harmony and love. I call on you, community organizers, activists, I implore you to please work your networking magic and coordinate a schedule of multiple rolling strikes. They will not listen to one or two actions or protests, but they may be forced to listen when their bank accounts shrink and their creditors are calling. So please, consider what I've said. Talk to your friends and neighbors about it. Spread the word. Yeah, I know, talking to friends and neighbors about politics is awkward right? You know what's gonna be worse than awkward? Whatever those aforementioned allied sociopathic bastards have planned for us. That's what.
